The Right Approach

The most effective weed control program has two parts. Pre-emergent in late winter to prevent weeds from germinating, and post-emergent in spring and summer to handle anything that comes up anyway.

Timing matters. A pre-emergent applied too late does nothing because the seeds have already germinated. In San Antonio, late February to early March is the window for pre-emergent application.
