A Tree Limb Fell

It happens fast. A storm rolls through, you hear a crack, and the next morning there is a big branch sitting in your yard. Or on your fence. Or worse, on your roof.

I have cleaned up a lot of storm damage in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Here is what I tell people when they call.

First, Make Sure It Is Safe

Before you touch anything, look up. If the branch that fell was attached to a larger limb that is still hanging, that hanging piece is now a hazard. A partially broken limb is called a widow maker for a reason. Do not walk under it, do not try to pull it down yourself.

Also check whether any power lines are involved. If a branch is touching or near a line, call CPS Energy first and let them clear it before anyone else goes near it.

Take Photos Before You Move Anything

If there is damage to your fence, your roof, your car, or anything else, photograph everything before you start cleaning up. Your insurance company will want documentation.

What Happens Next

Once it is safe and you have your photos, the cleanup itself is usually pretty straightforward. We cut the fallen limb into manageable sections, chip or haul away the debris, and assess whether the tree it came from needs any attention. We also fix fences. If a limb came down on your fence and knocked out a section, we can handle the cleanup and the repair in the same visit.
