First: Check for Safety Hazards

Walk the perimeter of your property and look for downed power lines before you touch anything. If a line is down, call CPS Energy at 210-353-4357 and stay away from the area.

Look for trees or large limbs that are hanging or leaning. A partially broken limb that is still attached to the tree is called a widow maker. Do not walk under it or try to pull it down yourself. These need to be removed by someone with the right equipment.

Document the Damage

Before any cleanup starts, take photos of everything. Walk the whole yard and photograph all damaged trees, broken limbs, fence damage, and any damage to the house or structures. This documentation is important for insurance claims.

A full storm cleanup includes removing all fallen limbs and branches, clearing debris from the lawn and beds, trimming back any broken or hanging limbs still on the trees, and hauling everything away.
